On February 19, Pete Vujovich, director, state government relations and public policy, met with Sen. Greg Clausen in support of his bill SF-479. The bill would make it illegal to abuse consumer products to get high and operate a vehicle. The bill was heard on March 5 and HCPA was in support. The Association continues to work with its affiliate, the Alliance for Consumer Education, to raise awareness of the dangers of inhalant abuse.
“When people under the influence of inhalants get behind the wheel of a car, they put themselves and the lives of everyone around them in jeopardy,” Vujovich said, “It is essential that the state of Minnesota update its DWI statutes to protect Minnesotans and to hold abusers accountable.”
